Pepper restaurant AnnaNagar, Chennai review

Had been to the Pepper restaurant Chinese, Chettinad and Tandoor on Sunday Afternoon with my family, It is on same lane next Nalas Appa kadai, on the same building of Dynasty – the Chinese restaurant. The earlier Kayal which just got replaced by Pepper restaurant.

Now to the food items, Corn Soup as usual, nothing great about it, but delicious. Starter was Chicken Tikka, and for the main course we had 2 butter naan, 1 plain biryani and the side dish was Kadai Chicken.

Chicken tikka was good, was spicy and little crispy would have made it interesting. Plain Biryani should serve one but the Kadai chicken gravy was too less, but chicken pieces offered was fleshy and good. I expect them to increase the gravy part as a family we adjusted to clear the butter naan from our table.

The place is clean, spacious and children friendly, the high rise of sofas offers good privacy.

Price, for a middle class family it would be apt on their pocket with this kind of ambiance it should a pleasurable experience.

Rating: 3/5. 200/Head should be a great deal. I am yet to try their complete menus. It is just an another multicusine kind of restaurant but pocket friendly.

Thalassery Restaurant @ Anna Nagar, Chennai, Food Review

Thalassery Restaurant is a new entrant for Kerala type foods, houses the taste of Malabar. Thalassery can be located from the front entrance of Anna Tower, the next road to Connexions, which leads to the arch of the Anna Tower close to Hill Greens Restaurant, The restaurant can be found on the first floor on that same lane.

It is a small joint, Currently working on interiors and even on pricing and quantity of food. The place is neat, decently spacious, clean, service is good, Currently improving on all possible directions.

The starter was Chicken 65 ( with bone) the main course ordered was Parotta, Talasery special biriyani and gravy was Naadan Chicken curry.

Naadan Chicken curry has the same preparation of Egg curry except the difference is Chicken, the number of chicken pieces are quite less. It tastes good, the portion can be served for 4 parottas max.

The Chicken 65 is bad experience, I had been to a small road side hotel at Mallapuram once, and ordered for a half portion of Chicken 65 when served it was a full bowl with lots of pieces. At least 4 people will be happy. Considering the kerala tradition they are following it is big disappointment for me, The taste was OK, just that few tissues where gripping on the bones, out of 6 or 7 pieces served most pieces were mere bones. The price is quite high for the quantity served. Don’t try chicken 65 over here.

Parotta the usual ones as you can find on any good restaurant, and now to the Thalasery Special biriyani, what we ordered was little special it doesn’t have chicken or mutton pieces. Just plain Biriyani aka Kushka. The taste was good with variety of spices, still medium spicy. We all loved it.

3 stars of out of five.
Service courteous
Food quantity too less, pricey
Price: 150/Head approximately.

Wings – Cake shop of Taj @ Anna Nagar, Chennai

Ummm…n Yummy That is how the whole family treated itself that evening.
The pastries live to the price, they just roll all over your mouth, didn’t want to swallow them at first. That is how I felt, When I was at Wings Cake shop of Taj, this place is next best pastries shop to La Boulangerie

Ambiance is good, spacious, neat, comfortable, service is self service which I hate for the price I pay and that too for a cake.

Rating 3 stars out of five stars
Price: 50/ head just for cake.

The Cascade, Chinese Restaurant @ AnnaNagar, Chennai

If it has to be Chinese food @ AnnaNagar you can count on "The Cascade" too, I will be posting on couple of Chinese restaurants review in the coming days.

Remember that crowded Saravana Bhavan at the 2nd Avenue, the road which leads to Pazumudir Cholai, just opposite you will find Arun Ice cream parlour at the top is our favourite Chinese Restaurant The Cascade.

Bit pricey at the same time you get good quality and quanity food. I was bit taken away when I ordered for fried rice and Malaysian Noodles, We were just four of us out of which one was toddler who is just a year and above. Just the fried rice was actually more than enough to serve 4 people, I ended up carrying the rest of the food to home.

Very important: So when you order, please ask them about the quantity they serve. They just take orders.

Ambience is really good, neat, spacious and good service, but you need a fat wallet. You can notice that I had very little trouble with my younger son. If the place is cramped, I wouldn’t have taken few Photos of the Restaurant. The sofa was cosy and comfortable, neat and odour less, that entertained him a lot.

My rating would be 4 stars out of 5.
300 INR/ Person average

As I said earlier look out for this blog, for more reviews on Chinese Restuarant at AnnaNagar, Chennai.

Are Tea bags adulterated

If you love tea, just answer this simple question
How much time does it take for the tea dust to give the tea color to the hot boiling water or milk?

I have compared two products, one is Gtee – Green tea and the other one is famous brand.

Sunday meal & dinner ruined

People Help…
What is the specialty of chettinnadu restaurant?

I might be completely wrong, but for the taste for food at most chettinadu restaurant have completely ruined my love for food
WHY?
The moment you step in to the restaurant, you will get a foul smell of fish. Believe me I am mallu, and supposed to be ardent lover for fish.

Last Sunday afternoon

paramakudi

we were at this Paramakudi restaurant at Annanagar near Ayyapan temple for lunch. We ordered for Butter naans, Biryani (kuska/ plain) , Chettinnadu chicken curry and Dragon chicken, 1/2 tomato soup.

Our experience -

  1. tomato soup does have some odour of fish
  2. Kuska arrives before Naan
  3. Chettinadu chicked curry has chicken bones and not any option of flesh and half bowl serveredbowl.jpg
  4. and finally Dragon chicken has non fried cashew nuts and non crispy chicken pieces dragonchicken.jpg the best part of dragon chicken was that of the greens which smelled when you wanted to taste the chicken.

I called upon the waiter who was already been troubled by another customer who was taking him for a ride, for not taking his order correctly. I requested him, that I would like to talk to the chef. The chef came, I asked him why is the dragon chicken is not so crispy?

The immediate answer was, Dragon chicken is meant to be like that as they treat them with the gravy.

We left the table with the left over food, payed the bill unwillingly.

So our lunch was ruined. The next was our evening snacks time, we had just returned from shopping so we thought we could have some thing yummy and ordered for Pizza at Pizza corner. So our sweet lady picks up the call took the order and I reminded her for the few sachets of ketchup and oregano.

Now our delivery guy from Pizza corner comes home, gives the package, I find no oregano, when requested he says the store has out of stock for oregano.

The delivery guys just ruin the user experience. Just for some tips they serve the posh customers with the goodies, and finally when they have to deliver at the not so posh area… Hmmm..n

So I called up the Pizza corner hotline. Our lady says I was not the one who picked up your order it is the other lady, so told her about the incident.

Well I crib, how many customers will care to crib. The next time they will loose the customer.

What I liked in Murugan Idly Center

My family and me were doing a shopping for clothes at TNagar last Sunday, and was really hungry before afternoon so we landed up at North Usman road, TNagar and landed up at Murugan Idly center, we were hyped by our neighbors next door, so decided to check this place out. The first impression of the place was that of a middle class restaurant, I thought of ordering a mixed menu which should consist of morning break fast and lunch so as to finally review the food quality at this place.

As soon as we landed on the table I found this stainless steel water tumblers with puncher ed wholes in it  as I was curious and taking snaps of this object, the waiter placed the disposable plastic tumblers and poured clear water in it.

An innovative way to tackle. Less problem for the food store and for the waiters to worry about cleaning these water dispensers and insuring clean water for the customer. I was quite thrilled about this small food store.

What is best of these tumbler shaped object is that it acts as a holder for those disposable plastic dispensers. When there is less water in it, the plastic dispenser stays intact.

Well the lunch was good not too spicy and was up to our standards and my son liked the Dosa and Idly the morning break fast types and good part is about the variety of chutney.

Overall a good experience and slightly high priced than our Saravana Bhavan.
