Sunfilm naughty 10%…

Just been thinking Chennai is finding it hard to beat the heat while recent supreme court verdict says to remove sun film on all four wheelers.

Just because of the naughty 10% why should the 90% of people suffer. Aren’t there better technologies and hard laws to solve the problem.

All these strict laws may disappear in the next few months and the loosers are the once who support these laws.

Friends have been saying wait for an stay order it should be on its way.

Why petrol&diesel outlet closed

After the recent petrol hikes. There is nil availability of diesel at few pumps and after few days the pump outlet seems to remain closed.

Aren’t there government bodies who look in to these matters.

Chennai has now become one of the top costliest cities to live in India.

Virudunagar Burma Kadai restaurant, Annanagar Chennai – Review

Probably this is the ambiance every chetinnad restaurant consumer wanted, I am sorry. This is my  third visit to this restaurant, twice left the place because it was over crowded and waiting time was past 15 mins, which was beyond my hunger expectation.

If the chetinnad consumer loved this, I would to hear from them, What made this restaurant tick? I had visited pepper restaurant  10-20mts away from this restaurant,  Aasai restaurant 50-100 mts away, both are chetinaad restaurant, but this was full with customers. One restaurant is shutting shop and the other was doing OK, and I love the food at that restaurant who is closing down the shop.

People, Burma kadai is pretty expensive for the quantity they serve. Check out my previous reviews on the other restaurants. Are you that health conscious that the quantity served is enough.

I have had the similar food at the Pepper restaurant and that was mouthful and sumptuous, I am talking about the Biryani. The butter Naan was soft with a difference* but not as good a pepper either. We where 6 adults and ordered for the following

  1. Chicken Tikka – starters
  2. Chicken drum stick – starters
  3. Veg Pulav
  4. Veg fried rice
  5. Egg Biryani
  6. Chicken chops
  7. Butter Naan 2 set
My family had their review and these are the average rating,
  1. Chicken Tikka – starters – 3 stars
  2. Chicken drum stick – starters – 1 star
  3. Veg Pulav – 2 star  - You could order for ghee rice
  4. Veg fried rice – 4 stars
  5. Egg Biryani – 3 stars – no way better than pepper restaurant for quantity and taste
  6. Chicken chops – FUCK – I even called up the server to inquire whether the delivered item was chops, I was expecting few pieces when I had 6 member in my family and what the fuck is that gravy for. You can view the photo displayed, It was served twice. The first one was so so over cooked that when my wife was checking on the stuff she found white blobs of over cooked chicken flesh. After inquiry  they were courteous to serve the second time with the fresh chicken and I appreciate the service
  7. Butter Naan 2 set – *Rubber was better.
My family was not happy with the food, My family’s priority was or have always been taste, healthy, ambiance  and price. End of the day we earn to survive.
Too pricey for the quantity they serve, Will visit again. If I hear from my friends that they have improved in terms of quantity and quality.
4 stars for service
2 stars for quantity
1 star fot quality

Which A/C – Air Conditioner to choose – Window or Split?

Seems like the heat has already caught up with Chennai. Chennai remains as hot hotter and hottest. Yes very much inseparable, Right?
The first things which comes to your mind on buying an A/C

  1. Which brand ?
  2. What capacity for my room?
  3. What cost ?
  4. Where to buy ?
  5. What are the hidden charges during installation etc?
  6. and the least thing which crops up in your mind is Window or the Split
  7. and of course AMC

Sure I can help, just follow these tips and guide lines

Let me cover the basics on which A/C you should buy or me likely to favor
Split A/C

  1. Pros:
  1. Very stylish, good look & feel and mounts on the wall
  2. Noise less, almost quiet, after years of service may start to sound like Window A/C a little bit

Buy a Split A/C unless you don’t have the provision for Window in that room.

Cons:

  1. Electricity consumption is more when compared with the same ton capacity with Window A/C.
  2. Power loss due to copper tubes, which connects the Outdoor unit with the indoor A/C panel, The more the Copper tubes used the more is the power loss. That is one reason, the manufacturer provides you with 3 meters free of cost and beyond 3 meters are charged as 450 INR/ meter approx
  3. Cleaning or servicing involves 2 process
  1. Cleaning the filter indoor unit, and cooling fins or coils
  2. Cleaning the cooling coils outdoor unit

The out-door unit are placed usually on the parapet wall, not that great place for servicing guys to do the servicing, usually the outdoor unit is not properly cleaned or serviced. They just pour 1 or 2 cups of water on that outdoor unit and leave the place.

Servicing cost 450-500 INR per call basis or if you have not chosen AMC aka Annual Maintenance Charge
Window A/C

  1. If you have the provision for Window A/C this is the best choice
  2. Pros: Cleaning or servicing the Unit is straight forward
  1. Clean the filter
  2. Clean the cooling coils are very much on the backside of the filter, no concept of outdoor unit
  3. less power consumption when compared with Split A/C of same ton capacity

Cons:

  1. Tend to be noisy over a time. Well if you are 30 years and above, you could consume one shot of brandy which is good for health or a neat cutting of your choice and get back to sleep. Where is that sound, What sound huh?

Servicing cost: 350-400 INR per call basis.
P.S: I have used A/C for the past 9 years and have used 2 Window A/C and 1 Split, and had access to 3 more A/C again (2 Window and 1 Split) at native place which is at my in-laws and folks place.

AMC – Annual Maintenance Charge: It all sounds good for a year and all services are prompt, because the manufacturing company pays the servicing company, now the real story begins after the second year. Should you choose AMC, I have stepped away from AMC after seeing the way they service the A/C

How many times do they service the A/C?
3-4 times as per the contract.

How well they service the Window A/C?
3 stars

How about the Split in terms of servicing?
1 Star

How much you shell out for AMC?
? depends and varies from person to person

How much does per call cost?
again, depends

So you decide. ;)

What brand?
Choice is let for yours, I will not name the brands, I will give you few pointers to decide

  1. There are cheap A/C which use therm cool for insulation and costly ones use a different material
  2. Some A/C work even under extreme temperatures, like the places in middle east, They do a better job and consume less energy and still cools your place, Some will work but will not cool the room.
  3. Features etc is just an eye wash, choose wisely. Oh the SMS on A/C stuff, that is really interesting

Yes, we are cursed living in Chennai for the power problem, power cuts and beyond is the low voltage. Yes there is a Choice, but the survival or usage will not last long. You don’t get it right, I meant About the double booster, I should say you must be insane to use one, while your neighbors will be cursing for using one. Why, low voltage for your entire neighborhood while your A/C rocks. Yo dude, your other house hold electrical items would also curse you, because of low power ;)

Didn’t think that it will be found out so soon?
You must be thinking I have double booster and I live happily ever after, They do understand that, some thing is under the hood. So what if, your neighbor also buys and his neighbor buys.
That is why I said it will not last long.

Now do you want to know where to buy and what are the hidden charges etc this is the link

Do share your valuable comments, and click “like” if you liked it.
Oh I forget, If you find your AMC servicing company a cheat, post their name and telephone numbers, that is best help you could do for your Chennai mates, If you would like to praise still works better.

Pepper restaurant AnnaNagar, Chennai review

Had been to the Pepper restaurant Chinese, Chettinad and Tandoor on Sunday Afternoon with my family, It is on same lane next Nalas Appa kadai, on the same building of Dynasty – the Chinese restaurant. The earlier Kayal which just got replaced by Pepper restaurant.

Now to the food items, Corn Soup as usual, nothing great about it, but delicious. Starter was Chicken Tikka, and for the main course we had 2 butter naan, 1 plain biryani and the side dish was Kadai Chicken.

Chicken tikka was good, was spicy and little crispy would have made it interesting. Plain Biryani should serve one but the Kadai chicken gravy was too less, but chicken pieces offered was fleshy and good. I expect them to increase the gravy part as a family we adjusted to clear the butter naan from our table.

The place is clean, spacious and children friendly, the high rise of sofas offers good privacy.

Price, for a middle class family it would be apt on their pocket with this kind of ambiance it should a pleasurable experience.

Rating: 3/5. 200/Head should be a great deal. I am yet to try their complete menus. It is just an another multicusine kind of restaurant but pocket friendly.

Dynasty restaurant, Chinese – AnnaNagar, Chennai

Dynasty Chinese Restaurant at AnnaNagar, Chennai, I move around this place so often to fill petrol for my car, some time for shopping at Yeses and even use to hang around with my friends near the church but completely missed this place a thousand and one times, because the name board was placed in an odd place, until recently my friend picked up an food order from Kayal, the malayali restaurant. Dynasty is at the second floor of that same building.

So as usual I started with dragon chicken and one more starter was Kon… chicken (forgot the name) after which I ordered for ginger pepper onion chicken as gravy for the vegetable fried rice and Veg hakka noodles.

My family just loved the food, the taste was good, and ambiance is good, decently lit. Place is neat and spacious. Well the dragon chicken was not crispy, still the taste was as good as the Wangs Kitchen. Yes, I was aware of the quantity of fried rice served, It should serve two people. Service is good. Bit pricey.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Budget: 300/ Person approximately.

Zoho shutter bugs – Photowalk 1

It is private photography club for Zoho employees, We did the photo walk yesterday (3rd Saturday) from VijayNagar bus stand to Velachery Bridge. It was interesting, many of us are learning photography by taking photos and commenting, usually constructive criticism. We have opened up flickr groups for us to share photos and here is the link http://www.flickr.com/groups/zoho_shutterbugs

As for me, this was interesting, I have not done Night Photography in groups. Do share your comments.

Curry House @ Anna Nagar, Chennai – Restaurant Review

I know it is been a long time, Curry House at Anna Nagar Chennai, is nice cozy place to be with your family. We tried the north Indian type dishes Butter Naan, Kadai Chicken and for starters Sweet Corn veg soup, Chicken Andhra Kabab.

Chicken Andhra Kabab is really hot and spicy, compliment it lot of water. The portion of Kadai Chicken was the just right for 3 sets of butter Naans.

What I liked about this place is, it has lots of space for kids to move around, does make kids to suffocate, so they are more relaxed. At least my younger son a year a half was more cool and composed. The sofa arrangement is really good you can put your kids to sleep, if needed. There is a separate room for kids to hang around you can browse the photos. They place is vandalized artistically by lovable kids.

The place is clean, ample lighting, service is good and the food taste good and Yeah, The food is moderately expensive.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
Budget: 250/ Person approximately
