Sampoora Global Restaurant – Velachery Chennai

I have been hearing gaga over this vegetarian restaurant on chennai.burrp.com so decide to explore Vegetarian Sampoorna Global restaurant at Velachery Chennai. It is a small restaurant could accommodate 28 people approximately. The food quality is good, tasty and ambiance is good Place and furniture are neat. Overall my friends and me loved the place.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Budget: 200/person
Cons: Quantity for Thali meals is little less, I ordered for rice the second time. For that matter any Thali meals @ sampoorna has limited rice served.

Thalassery Restaurant @ Anna Nagar, Chennai, Food Review

Thalassery Restaurant is a new entrant for Kerala type foods, houses the taste of Malabar. Thalassery can be located from the front entrance of Anna Tower, the next road to Connexions, which leads to the arch of the Anna Tower close to Hill Greens Restaurant, The restaurant can be found on the first floor on that same lane.

It is a small joint, Currently working on interiors and even on pricing and quantity of food. The place is neat, decently spacious, clean, service is good, Currently improving on all possible directions.

The starter was Chicken 65 ( with bone) the main course ordered was Parotta, Talasery special biriyani and gravy was Naadan Chicken curry.

Naadan Chicken curry has the same preparation of Egg curry except the difference is Chicken, the number of chicken pieces are quite less. It tastes good, the portion can be served for 4 parottas max.

The Chicken 65 is bad experience, I had been to a small road side hotel at Mallapuram once, and ordered for a half portion of Chicken 65 when served it was a full bowl with lots of pieces. At least 4 people will be happy. Considering the kerala tradition they are following it is big disappointment for me, The taste was OK, just that few tissues where gripping on the bones, out of 6 or 7 pieces served most pieces were mere bones. The price is quite high for the quantity served. Don’t try chicken 65 over here.

Parotta the usual ones as you can find on any good restaurant, and now to the Thalasery Special biriyani, what we ordered was little special it doesn’t have chicken or mutton pieces. Just plain Biriyani aka Kushka. The taste was good with variety of spices, still medium spicy. We all loved it.

3 stars of out of five.
Service courteous
Food quantity too less, pricey
Price: 150/Head approximately.

The Canton Chinese Restaurant @ Nugambakkam, Chennai

The canton is small and nice Chinese restaurant at Nungambakkam, just next to Ganpath and it is on the basement. I had been to this place last Sunday, but didn’t really enjoy my lunch. I ordered for Spicy Jade Veg soup, Dragon Chicken as a starter and for the main course West Lake Spicy Chicken and Veg Fried rice. Guess What?

The base preparation for Dragon Chicken and West Lake spicy Chicken was the same, stuffed in Maida, I guess it is common preparation, when guest order for any chicken item, the pull out few pieces and prepare it dry or gravy. The gravy item was little slimy, but didn’t taste bad. The dragon chicken was crispy some pieces were not properly cooked. I did feel the same at the Cascade, it was delicious.

This time I was bit cautious when ordering fried rice, I really took care in understanding the amount be served. Yeah, it serves 2 people.

In spite of the place been small there is no comfort from the sofa and the chairs, Stern sofa which are erect at 90 degrees and it needs proper cleaning too. Ambiance is OK, properly lit apart from the Chinese dragon framed photos these is no Chinese from this place.

Service is good, you get proper answer on the quantity being served, the waiters are humble enough to extend their service when your plates are getting empty, they serve with a good smile.

I have tried the dragon chicken at these places too Shanshi @ AnnaNagar, Kim Ling @ AnnaNagar, The Cascade @ AnnaNagar and The Wangs @ AnnaNagar and @ Velachery. If it has to be dragon chicken it has either has to be The Cascade or The Wangs Kitchen @ Velachery.

Rating: 3 stars out of 5
Price: 250 / Head approximately
