Virudunagar Burma Kadai restaurant, Annanagar Chennai – Review

Probably this is the ambiance every chetinnad restaurant consumer wanted, I am sorry. This is my  third visit to this restaurant, twice left the place because it was over crowded and waiting time was past 15 mins, which was beyond my hunger expectation.

If the chetinnad consumer loved this, I would to hear from them, What made this restaurant tick? I had visited pepper restaurant  10-20mts away from this restaurant,  Aasai restaurant 50-100 mts away, both are chetinaad restaurant, but this was full with customers. One restaurant is shutting shop and the other was doing OK, and I love the food at that restaurant who is closing down the shop.

People, Burma kadai is pretty expensive for the quantity they serve. Check out my previous reviews on the other restaurants. Are you that health conscious that the quantity served is enough.

I have had the similar food at the Pepper restaurant and that was mouthful and sumptuous, I am talking about the Biryani. The butter Naan was soft with a difference* but not as good a pepper either. We where 6 adults and ordered for the following

  1. Chicken Tikka – starters
  2. Chicken drum stick – starters
  3. Veg Pulav
  4. Veg fried rice
  5. Egg Biryani
  6. Chicken chops
  7. Butter Naan 2 set
My family had their review and these are the average rating,
  1. Chicken Tikka – starters – 3 stars
  2. Chicken drum stick – starters – 1 star
  3. Veg Pulav – 2 star  - You could order for ghee rice
  4. Veg fried rice – 4 stars
  5. Egg Biryani – 3 stars – no way better than pepper restaurant for quantity and taste
  6. Chicken chops – FUCK – I even called up the server to inquire whether the delivered item was chops, I was expecting few pieces when I had 6 member in my family and what the fuck is that gravy for. You can view the photo displayed, It was served twice. The first one was so so over cooked that when my wife was checking on the stuff she found white blobs of over cooked chicken flesh. After inquiry  they were courteous to serve the second time with the fresh chicken and I appreciate the service
  7. Butter Naan 2 set – *Rubber was better.
My family was not happy with the food, My family’s priority was or have always been taste, healthy, ambiance  and price. End of the day we earn to survive.
Too pricey for the quantity they serve, Will visit again. If I hear from my friends that they have improved in terms of quantity and quality.
4 stars for service
2 stars for quantity

Pepper restaurant AnnaNagar, Chennai review

Had been to the Pepper restaurant Chinese, Chettinad and Tandoor on Sunday Afternoon with my family, It is on same lane next Nalas Appa kadai, on the same building of Dynasty – the Chinese restaurant. The earlier Kayal which just got replaced by Pepper restaurant.

Now to the food items, Corn Soup as usual, nothing great about it, but delicious. Starter was Chicken Tikka, and for the main course we had 2 butter naan, 1 plain biryani and the side dish was Kadai Chicken.

Chicken tikka was good, was spicy and little crispy would have made it interesting. Plain Biryani should serve one but the Kadai chicken gravy was too less, but chicken pieces offered was fleshy and good. I expect them to increase the gravy part as a family we adjusted to clear the butter naan from our table.

The place is clean, spacious and children friendly, the high rise of sofas offers good privacy.

Price, for a middle class family it would be apt on their pocket with this kind of ambiance it should a pleasurable experience.

Rating: 3/5. 200/Head should be a great deal. I am yet to try their complete menus. It is just an another multicusine kind of restaurant but pocket friendly.

Dynasty restaurant, Chinese – AnnaNagar, Chennai

Dynasty Chinese Restaurant at AnnaNagar, Chennai, I move around this place so often to fill petrol for my car, some time for shopping at Yeses and even use to hang around with my friends near the church but completely missed this place a thousand and one times, because the name board was placed in an odd place, until recently my friend picked up an food order from Kayal, the malayali restaurant. Dynasty is at the second floor of that same building.

So as usual I started with dragon chicken and one more starter was Kon… chicken (forgot the name) after which I ordered for ginger pepper onion chicken as gravy for the vegetable fried rice and Veg hakka noodles.

My family just loved the food, the taste was good, and ambiance is good, decently lit. Place is neat and spacious. Well the dragon chicken was not crispy, still the taste was as good as the Wangs Kitchen. Yes, I was aware of the quantity of fried rice served, It should serve two people. Service is good. Bit pricey.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Budget: 300/ Person approximately.

Curry House @ Anna Nagar, Chennai – Restaurant Review

I know it is been a long time, Curry House at Anna Nagar Chennai, is nice cozy place to be with your family. We tried the north Indian type dishes Butter Naan, Kadai Chicken and for starters Sweet Corn veg soup, Chicken Andhra Kabab.

Chicken Andhra Kabab is really hot and spicy, compliment it lot of water. The portion of Kadai Chicken was the just right for 3 sets of butter Naans.

What I liked about this place is, it has lots of space for kids to move around, does make kids to suffocate, so they are more relaxed. At least my younger son a year a half was more cool and composed. The sofa arrangement is really good you can put your kids to sleep, if needed. There is a separate room for kids to hang around you can browse the photos. They place is vandalized artistically by lovable kids.

The place is clean, ample lighting, service is good and the food taste good and Yeah, The food is moderately expensive.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.
Budget: 250/ Person approximately

Thalassery Restaurant @ Anna Nagar, Chennai, Food Review

Thalassery Restaurant is a new entrant for Kerala type foods, houses the taste of Malabar. Thalassery can be located from the front entrance of Anna Tower, the next road to Connexions, which leads to the arch of the Anna Tower close to Hill Greens Restaurant, The restaurant can be found on the first floor on that same lane.

It is a small joint, Currently working on interiors and even on pricing and quantity of food. The place is neat, decently spacious, clean, service is good, Currently improving on all possible directions.

The starter was Chicken 65 ( with bone) the main course ordered was Parotta, Talasery special biriyani and gravy was Naadan Chicken curry.

Naadan Chicken curry has the same preparation of Egg curry except the difference is Chicken, the number of chicken pieces are quite less. It tastes good, the portion can be served for 4 parottas max.

The Chicken 65 is bad experience, I had been to a small road side hotel at Mallapuram once, and ordered for a half portion of Chicken 65 when served it was a full bowl with lots of pieces. At least 4 people will be happy. Considering the kerala tradition they are following it is big disappointment for me, The taste was OK, just that few tissues where gripping on the bones, out of 6 or 7 pieces served most pieces were mere bones. The price is quite high for the quantity served. Don’t try chicken 65 over here.

Parotta the usual ones as you can find on any good restaurant, and now to the Thalasery Special biriyani, what we ordered was little special it doesn’t have chicken or mutton pieces. Just plain Biriyani aka Kushka. The taste was good with variety of spices, still medium spicy. We all loved it.

3 stars of out of five.
Service courteous
Food quantity too less, pricey
Price: 150/Head approximately.
