For all you Tamil drama lovers, there is something to watch out for this week.  Theatre Marina is a group of highly talented artists, scriptwriters, music directors and performers. The theatre is all set with its new production, which is an ensemble of four plays. This will be staged in Mylapore Fine arts club on 25th, 26th and 27th November. Their last play, UNDO was successful one that was performed in Mylapore Fine arts club. Each play of the new production is a deft conversion of short stories and two of them are written by the legendary writer, Sujatha and the other two plays are written by Sri Arun Kumar.  Jayaraman Raghunathan has been dramatising Sujatha’s plays.

About the play

The new productions will have these four plays with different concepts. The play, Kizakku Ambalappattu is a cute little experience of a city-bred post master and his wife who was transferred to a Tanjore college to run the campus post office. The play showcases the modern day realities of life. The play, Ammonium phosphate is a brilliant piece by Sujatha which lays bare the revenge in a completely off-beat style. Puratchi Ongkuka by Sri Arunkumar is a satirical take on principles fading away before selfish reality. The play is done in a tongue and cheek style. Vaasal is an untold drama of an imaginary state. It will be narrated in the Sujatha style with a touch of morbidity.

The short plays are directed by Mahalakshmi and Ashwin.  The music has been composed by R Giridharan & Prasanna, art direction is done by Mohan Babu, lighting has been taken care of by Mano lighting- Govind, the makeup has been done by Perumbur kumar and Rama and team will handle the back stage.

The chief guests on 25th November will be Mrs Sujatha, wife of late writer, Sujatha. The plays are sponsored by Karthik Fine arts club and Mylapore Fine Arts club.
